Tyler Bishop is an associate in Elias Law Group’s litigation practice, where he focuses on voting rights, redistricting, and other high-stakes pro-democracy election matters.

Tyler has experience litigating at all stages in state and federal court—from pleadings and motions practice through appeals, including appeals taken to state supreme courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. He and his colleagues have secured important victories for clients, including defending the results of the 2020 election against challenges in Georgia and challenging the validity of voter-suppression laws and practices in multiple states.

Tyler is a graduate of Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Stanford Supreme Court Litigation Clinic. In that role, he (among other things) helped to draft a successful merits brief in Zarda v. Altitude Express, the companion case to Bostock v. Clayton County, which held that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act protects LGBTQ+ employees from discrimination in the workplace. During law school, Tyler also coordinated opportunities for law students to get involved with voter-protection efforts throughout northern and central California.

Tyler clerked for the Hon. David J. Barron of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston, Massachusetts. He is admitted to practice in California and Washington, D.C.

Tyler also has a background in journalism and communications. Before attending law school, Tyler served as the editor-in-chief of his college newspaper, The Vanderbilt Hustler, a fellow at The Atlantic magazine, and later as a communications consultant for nonprofits.
