Jonathan Barnett is an associate in the political law practice.

Before joining ELG, Jonathan clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Stuart Rabner of the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Jonathan earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and his MPA from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs in a joint-degree program. He received his B.A. from the George Washington University.

In law school, Jonathan worked as a summer associate at ELG, interned in the Office of Legal Counsel of the White House Office of Management and Budget, interned in the office of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and participated in the Michigan Civil Rights Litigation Initiative clinic.

Prior to graduate school, Jonathan worked as a policy analyst in the office of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy after working as briefings coordinator for his 2017 gubernatorial campaign. Jonathan also served as assistant to the Chief of Staff at the US Department of Agriculture at the end of the Obama administration.
