Max Schechter is an associate in the Political Law practice group. Max’s clients include federal and state political committees, candidates, and tax-exempt organizations. Max advises clients on a wide range of election law, ethics, and nonprofit tax compliance questions. In particular, Max helps clients navigate the complex issues at the intersection of state and federal campaign finance law. An experienced election law practitioner, Max has dealt with campaign finance regulators across the country on behalf of his clients to resolve issues and find creative solutions to novel questions. Max also has significant on-the-ground experience in recounts and election contests. 

Prior to Elias Law Group, Max was an associate at Perkins Coie and at another international law firm. Max is a graduate of Columbia Law School and Cornell University. In law school, Max served as online articles editor for the Human Rights Law Review and as president of the Columbia Law School Democrats. Before law school, Max worked on political campaigns in field and research roles. He is based out of ELG’s office in Washington, D.C.
