Melinda “Mindy” Johnson is an associate in Elias Law Group's Litigation practice. She fights voter suppression, unconstitutional gerrymandering, and defamation suits brought by Republican individuals and entities in courts across the country.
Before Elias Law Group, Ms. Johnson worked as an associate attorney at Williams & Connolly LLP for three years, where she maintained an active pro bono practice representing individuals seeking asylum, indigent criminal defendants, and veterans. Previously, as a student, she gained legal intern experience at organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center in Atlanta, the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights in Washington, D.C.
Mindy’s practice encompasses all aspects of both federal and state litigation, including pleadings, fact and expert depositions, motion practice, trial practice, and oral argument. She also has experience in appellate briefing, including at the United States Supreme Court.
Dedicated to ELG’s mission of protecting democracy, she also served as a voter protection volunteer in Georgia during the 2020 election cycle.
Ms. Johnson is a graduate of the University of Georgia and Harvard Law School. As a law student, she was an editor for the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and worked for the Prison Legal Assistance Project. She now works out of ELG’s Washington, D.C. office.
