Joel Ramirez is an associate in the Litigation practice group. His practice is focused on election law, voting rights, and civil rights litigation.
Joel has extensive experience researching and writing legal briefs and dispositive motions for appellate, First Amendment, administrative law, intellectual property, and civil rights matters, as well as taking and defending depositions and working with expert witnesses. Before joining ELG, Joel served as a law clerk to the Hon. Carlos F. Lucero of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the Hon. Robert L. Pitman of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Prior to his clerkships, Joel litigated patent, trademark and complex civil cases at a large law firm in San Francisco.
While earning his J.D. at Yale Law School, Joel interned for the U.S. Department of Justice in the Civil Appellate Division. Prior to law school, Joel worked as a neuroscience researcher for Johns Hopkins University and as a nationally accredited personal trainer. He also served as principal violist of the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra for five concert seasons.
