In her Political Law practice, Emily Hogin advises campaigns and political organizations seeking to elect Democrats in local, state, and federal elections as well as nonprofit organizations seeking to help citizens vote or to make progressive change.

Emily advises political campaigns at all stages, from incorporating a campaign committee and qualifying for the ballot, to raising, spending, and reporting money, to ensuring that all votes are counted. New organizations turn to Emily for advice on how to choose a tax structure—527, 501(c)(4), or 501(c)(3)—to achieve their goals. Her work includes advising state and federal “hard money” PACs and independent expenditure organizations (“Super PACs”), 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations, and 501(c)(3) public charities and private foundations.

Emily works out of ELG’s Washington, D.C. office. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School, cum laude, where she served on the Harvard Law Review, Harvard College, magna cum laude, and, proudly, the United World College of the American West in New Mexico.
